Most character generators give you a box of options: 12 personality traits, 8 hair colors, 5 backstories. The result feels like a form, not a person. Soulit lets you design your OC by talking — what the character wants, what they're afraid of, how they walk into a room. Then you can chat with them. The visual comes too, because Soulit generates a portrait that matches the persona you described.
What you can build
Fantasy adventurers, modern slice-of-life characters, comic-book leads, fanfic OCs (in your own original world — Soulit doesn't roleplay copyrighted IP), TTRPG player-characters, animation pitches. The character creator is conversational, so the depth scales with how much you want to invest.
How it works
Start with a one-line idea: "a tired older sister who's secretly a librarian for a forbidden archive." The partner asks follow-ups about voice, mannerisms, contradictions. Pick a name, a look, a backstory beat. Generate a portrait. Then chat with the character to test their voice — does she actually sound like the person you imagined? If not, refine. The whole loop takes about 20 minutes for a basic character; weeks for one you really care about.
What we don't do
No characters based on real people. No likenesses of public figures. No copyrighted characters from anime, games, or films — make your own original character inspired by the genres you love instead. This protects you and the platform.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I make a character based on my favorite anime/game character?
- Not directly — that would be IP infringement. But you can design an original character that lives in a similar genre or aesthetic. "A swordsman in a sun-bleached coastal kingdom" is fine; "a copy of [specific character]" is not.
- What about characters based on real people (celebrities, friends)?
- No real-person likenesses. The platform is for fictional characters only. This is a hard rule for legal reasons.
- Can I publish my OC for others to chat with?
- Yes, if you want to. Or keep them private. You own your character and can set them public, link-only, or private.
- Can I generate new images of my OC in different scenes?
- Yes. While chatting with your OC, you can ask for new portraits in different outfits, settings, or moods. Generation uses credits; daily free credits are included.
